Since moving to Morgan Hill a year ago, Michael and I have enjoyed many community events such as the 4th of July Parade and the Summer Music Series. Today, Morgan Hill had the honor of hosting Stage 4 of the men’s AMGEN Tour of California. AMGEN is an annual professional cycling race that attracts world-class cyclists and teams. It’s a seven day tour-de-France style event and this year it begins in Long Beach and ends in Sacramento with a stop in Morgan Hill.
I’m personally not a cyclist, but I was curious to watch the time trials. Plus, as a Morgan Hill photographer, I thought it would be fun to document the event. The street downtown was closed to traffic and the area was transformed into a family-friendly cycling festival with the start and finish line in the middle. It was great to see many people and businesses from the community were out enjoying the day with their families and friends. They were joined by hundreds of visitors who were cheering on the cyclists, and NBC news who was covering the event from helicopters and motorcycles. It was quite an exciting day in Morgan Hill and reminded me once again why I feel lucky to live here!

More photos from the time trials are available here. Please feel free to download them for personal use.
